Kacie Smagacz, Owner, Move That Dough Baking Co.
Kacie Smagacz is an artist, entrepreneur and holistic health coach in Charlotte. She began Move That Dough Baking Co., the first plant-based bakery in Charlotte, in 2015 with the intent to bring slightly healthier indulgent options to the table. As the business progressed, she began learning about how deeply rooted true wellness is in our healing from trauma. She has used her business to facilitate fundraising for local needs, to open up authentic conversations about mental health, and how to practically meet our own needs while removing the stigma surrounding it. She continues to engage with the nutrition aspect of supporting mental health, becoming a certified holistic nutrition coach, mental health first aider for both adults and youth, and has plans to continue her education in a way that combines nutrition and mental health support. She is also an advocate for individual and community healing, intending to offer her support to a range of people within a variety of circumstances. And it’s all under the guise of donuts!
Jen Hill, Artist & Muralist
Jen’s entire life has revolved around art; from fine art to performance art, she has experimented in a myriad of mediums. Originally from the Winston Salem/Kernersville area, she was exposed to the top art programs in the southeast, including East Carolina’s art school. In 2008, Jen earned her degree from ECU’s art program, with a focus on textiles, print making, and illustration. Her hand lettering and chalk work is well-known across local establishments, with brewery and hotel signage art opening her doors to Charlotte’s art scene. She has lived and worked in Charlotte for 7 years and is making her splatter and sparkle inspired art a staple in the city. Whether she is making Warholesque pop portraits of her favorite female inspirations, or creating large scale splattered murals, Jen continues to explore the many facets of her creativity; a creativity that is ever-expanding with her growth and experience.
